Worcester Tree Initiative

The Worcester Tree Initiative is a private, non-profit effort to reforest the City of Worcester and surrounding communities. It is a positive response to the devastation of the Asian Longhorned Beetle, the December 2008 ice storm, and the decline of Worcester’s urban forest. Initiated by Congressman Jim McGovern and Lt. Governor Tim Murray, the Worcester Tree Initiative has a goal to plant 30,000 trees in the next 5 years.

The Worcester Tree Initiative helps supply trees to both individuals and organizations. All recipients are trained about the proper places to plant their trees, as well as how to maintain the tree. The Worcester Tree Initiative requests that all trees be registered and tracked in a database.
