HINEINU

Hinenu HandsHineinu is a branch of Temple Emanuel’s Caring Committee. We give hands-on help to fellow congregants in times of need, and we hope you will join us.

Moses answered “Hineini!” (Here I am!) when God called to him
out of the Burning Bush. Many of our Biblical ancestors answered this way when they were ready to do God’s work. Joining our voices together, we say “Hineinu” (Here we are) as we answer God’s call as a community.

Here are some ways you can help:

Provide a meal at a house of mourning.

Volunteers provide a cooked meal at each house of mourning where the mourners are members of the congregation, and where the shiva (memorial observance) lasts more than one day. You can also cook at your convenience and we’ll keep the dish in the freezer for emergencies.

Lend a helping hand to a fellow congregant at a time of crisis or transition.

This might involve: Cooking and/or delivering a meal, Shopping, Giving a ride, Going along to an appointment to provide support, Helping with housework or child care

Visiting a congregant who is homebound or who lives at a long-term care facility.
